Have you ever wanted to learn to draw or paint but didn’t know where to start?
Maybe you have tried learning using books, magazines, videos or DVDs and found it too difficult.
If you live in the Albury
Wodonga Region
and
you have a few hours free on Mondays,
there is
good news ahead.
Thanks to some recently acquired funding,
the Thurgoona Community Centre was able to offer
Art Classes for up to 10 people
(maybe 12 at a stretch)
at a really reasonable price during 2024.
My name is Graham Wade. If you would like to
know more about who I am, Click

I was the Art Tutor for the Art, Craft and Activities Group (ACAG) for
about 5 years and we used to
meet at the
Mirambeena Community Centre until it
ceased operations on 22nd March 2024. The ACAG had
an amount of funding that, upon their closure, was transferred to
the Thurgoona Community Centre.

The Thurgoona Community
Centre used that funding to run the Art Classes for the
rest of 2024.
The centre has some funding left to start the classes again in 2025
while they work to find more funding for the rest of the year.
The 2025 classes will be over 4 terms of 6
weeks. starting on the 10th of February 2025.

To make these lessons easy to remember, I have called them the Thurgoona Easy Art Lessons, giving them the acronym of TEAL, a greenish-blue colour.
The TEAL classes started out to be for anyone who wished to learn how to draw or paint, with lessons suited for beginners to the more intermediate artists. During 2024, the classes evolved to be more of a watercolour class.
Basically, the lessons will feature mostly easy painting/drawing projects, with some challenging aspects thrown in to help you advance to higher skill levels.
While the classes will focus mainly on watercolour painting, it will also have a focus on basic drawing & painting techniques.
We will be using Watercolour because it dries faster, is one of the least messy mediums, and it doesn’t have the strong odours of oil painting.
I can also guide you through any issues you may have with any aspects of drawing using graphite pencils, charcoal, coloured pencils, etc., and I can help you either getting started with Oil or Acrylic Painting, or move onto a higher skill level in these mediums, and, to a lesser extent, Pastel painting.
To recap, the classes will be on a
Monday morning from 11:00am to 3:00pm
with
the main learning part of the classes
being the three hours from
11:30 to 2:30pm,
making it ideal if you have children at school.
The fee for the 2025 classes will
remain at a low $15
per week for Term 1,…
For this year, you only pay if you attend the classes.
I think you will find, if you do your research,
this is perhaps the
lowest-priced Art Class in the Albury Wodonga
Region.
The First Term for
2025 will start on
Monday 10th February
2025
at the
Thurgoona Community Centre’s Hall,
10 Kosciusko Road,
Thurgoona, New South Wales.
The lessons will be held over set terms of 8 weeks and hopefully there will be funding to continue the classes through until the end of the year.
I originally planned to take 10 people from the Albury Wodonga and surrounding areas into the class, maybe 12 at a stretch but there have been times when the class number has exceeded 12. When this happens you may need to be more vocal if you require help.
If you add your details into the form below, I will contact you to see if you are still interested in attending the TEAL Classes.
As such, I will be keeping a list of "reserve" places in case some people stop attending the classes throughout the year.
Please note that the classes may be restricted to 10 people as bigger classes make it difficult to get around everyone, resulting in less time I can spend with each person. A larger class makes it difficult to spend the time necessary to help people who may be having difficulty with particular techniques.
Once you join the TEAL classes, I can place you on an email list where I email everyone with project details of upcoming lessons. This will allow the TEAL class attendees to prepare for upcoming lessons in advance so they can move into the lesson proper quickly.
